Getting Your Store Ready for White Friday 2026: A 30-Item Checklist Before November (Technical, Marketing and Regulatory)

Preparing your store for White Friday in Saudi Arabia takes four to five weeks and runs across four tracks: technical (speed, hosting, load testing and payments), marketing (audience, ads and lists), inventory and shipping, and the regulatory side, the most important part of which is obtaining the discount license from the Ministry of Commerce before announcing any discount. White Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, and most stores start their offers a few days before it. This article is published about 7 weeks ahead of the date, which is enough time to complete the whole list calmly and without improvising. You will find a 30-item list split across the four tracks, a weekly timeline and approximate costs in SAR, written for a Saudi store owner in Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam, not translated from the American Black Friday.

White Friday 2026 store prep in Saudi Arabia - a 30-item technical, marketing and regulatory checklist

When is White Friday 2026 in Saudi Arabia, and how much time do you have left?

White Friday is the local version of Black Friday, which is why Black Friday campaigns in Saudi Arabia appear under both names. It falls on the last Friday of November. In 2026 it falls on Friday 27 November. In practice, the season is no longer a single day: many stores and platforms in Saudi Arabia open their offers a week or more before it and extend them to the end of the month. So plan on peak demand running roughly from 20 to 30 November, with the highest pressure on Thursday and Friday.

A simple calculation: from this article's publication date (4 October) to 20 November you have about 47 days, or nearly 7 weeks. That is comfortable for every item below, provided you do not postpone the items that depend on outside parties: the shipping company, the hosting provider, the payment gateway and the Ministry of Commerce discounts system. These are the parties that fall behind in November, not your team.

And why is this guide being published right now? Because the seasonal offers page you want in Google results needs weeks to get indexed and settle. Whoever publishes their page on 20 November starts the season with almost no organic visibility, and relies entirely on paid ads in the most expensive week of the year.

Getting your store technically ready for White Friday: 9 items before the pressure hits

The technical problem in the season is not only that the store "goes down", but that it slows down under pressure enough for the customer to abandon the cart. These items are ranked by priority:

  1. Measure mobile speed on the pages you will pay to advertise: the home page, the offers page, your five best-selling product pages and the checkout page. Most visitors to Saudi stores arrive on mobile, so measuring on desktop gives you a misleading picture. See our guide to improving mobile site speed in Saudi Arabia to know which metrics are worth fixing first.
  2. Lighten images and third-party scripts: convert images to WebP at suitable dimensions, and remove apps and plugins you no longer use. Every extra pop-up, chat tool or countdown timer slows the page down at the moment of peak traffic.
  3. Know the limits of your plan or hosting: if your store is on Salla or Zid, the infrastructure is the platform's responsibility, but check your plan's limits (number of products, enabled apps and message limits). If your store is on WooCommerce or custom-built, ask your hosting provider in writing: how many concurrent visitors can the plan handle? And can it be upgraded temporarily for the season and then downgraded?
  4. Run a load test at least two weeks ahead: this applies to self-hosted stores. Simulate a number of concurrent visitors equal to three to five times your busiest day ever, and monitor response times on the product, cart and checkout pages, not just the home page. Testing two weeks ahead leaves you time to fix whatever shows up.
  5. Enable caching and a content delivery network (CDN): and make sure the cart, checkout and customer account pages are excluded from caching, otherwise a customer will see someone else's cart or old prices.
  6. Test the checkout flow with real orders: mada, Apple Pay, credit cards and installment services. Place an actual order with each method from an iPhone and an Android phone, then refund it. And ask your payment gateway about the daily transaction limits on your account so payments are not suspended mid-season.
  7. Prepare a payment fallback plan: if one payment method stops, do you have a second one enabled and ready to show? And do you know how to hide the broken method quickly? Write these steps on a single sheet the whole team knows.
  8. Review tracking and pixels: make sure purchase and add-to-cart events are recorded accurately in Google Analytics and on the ad platforms. If tracking is broken, you will spend the season's budget without knowing which ad is selling.
  9. Freeze changes a week before the season: no theme updates, no new plugins and no code changes after 18 or 19 November. Take a full backup, and set up downtime monitoring that alerts you on your phone immediately.

A note for Salla and Zid store owners

You are exempt from server load testing; that is the platform's business, and it is usually not allowed on its infrastructure. But your store's speed is still your responsibility: image sizes, the number of installed apps and the weight of the theme. The test that matters to you is testing the full purchase flow with real orders.

Marketing before White Friday: 8 items that create demand before offer day

A store that starts advertising on Friday buys visitors at the highest price of the year. A store that gathers its audience three weeks ahead sells to people who are already waiting for it.

  1. Build the offer on your margin, not your competitor's offer: for each discounted product, calculate the margin after the discount, payment commission, shipping cost and expected returns. A 40% discount on a product with a 35% margin is a guaranteed loss however much sales rise. Bundle offers (buy two) and gifts on orders above a set threshold protect the margin better than a straight discount.
  2. Create a seasonal landing page with a permanent URL: a single page such as /white-friday/ used every year, so its strength on Google builds up year after year. Publish it now with "coming soon" content and a sign-up form, then update it with the offers. For details on optimizing it for search, see our e-commerce SEO guide 2026. And if you will hire an outside party for this page, review the selection criteria in our guide to choosing a digital marketing agency in Saudi Arabia.
  3. Build a list of interested customers before the offer: a "Notify me when the offers start" form on the page, with explicit consent to marketing messages. This list is the cheapest channel you will own this season.
  4. Start Google Ads early with a gradual budget: search campaigns on your store name and categories two weeks before the season, then raise the budget as the offers begin. Cost per click rises in peak week because every store is bidding on the same keywords. To estimate your total marketing budget for the season, see our guide to digital marketing cost in Saudi Arabia.
  5. Prepare retargeting audiences: visitors from the last 30 and 60 days, people who added to cart but did not buy, and your past customers. These convert at a much lower cost than a cold audience, and they need ads ready before the season, not during it.
  6. WhatsApp, email and SMS with a written send plan: a pre-announcement message, then a launch message, then a reminder before the end. Only send to people who agreed to marketing messages, and calculate the cost of WhatsApp marketing messages in advance, since they are charged per message according to Meta's published pricing. We covered this in detail in our article on WhatsApp chatbot cost.
  7. Decide your position on "buy now, pay later": installment services raise the average basket in the seasons, but their commission comes out of a margin that is already squeezed by the discount. Calculate before deciding: does the expected increase in orders and average basket cover the extra commission on each order?
  8. Prepare creative content in one go: offer images and short clips for Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram in each platform's sizes, with short Arabic copy. Last-minute design produces weak ads and delays review by the ad platforms. If you have an explainer video, cut 15 and 30 second versions from it for the season. To estimate the cost of producing a new video, see motion graphics cost in Saudi Arabia.

White Friday offers for stores: ideas that protect your margin

A straight discount is not the only offer, and it is usually not the most profitable. Here are ideas that attract customers without eating into your margin:

  • A gift above a set threshold: "A gift with every order over SAR 300" raises the average basket, and its cost is known in advance.
  • Buy 2, get the third at half price: a smaller real discount than a straight discount of the same percentage, and it moves more stock.
  • Free shipping above a set value: set the threshold so the order margin covers the shipping cost.
  • A discount for your past customers only: through a code sent to your opted-in list, rewarding loyalty without cutting the price for everyone.

And any offer that reduces the price is still subject to the discount license explained below.

Inventory, shipping and customer service: 7 items that stop you losing what you have sold

The worst thing that can happen in the season is not too few orders, but orders that were sold and cannot be delivered on time. And a customer whose order is late on White Friday writes their review the same day.

  1. Forecast quantities from your data, not wishful thinking: review last season's sales or your busiest week ever, and pick the fifteen products that will carry the offers. Order their stock now, because suppliers themselves are swamped in November.
  2. Unify inventory across channels: if you sell in the store and a showroom or on more than one platform, selling stock you do not actually have is the most dangerous mistake of the season. Automatic syncing through an ERP system that connects the channels solves this, as we explained in our guide to Odoo ERP in Saudi Arabia.
  3. Agree with your shipping company in writing before the season: whether it is SMSA, Aramex, Saudi Post SPL or another local company, ask: what daily capacity is available for your account? What is the daily pickup cut-off? Are there extra seasonal fees? What is the expected delivery time to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and outlying cities? To compare your options, see our guide to choosing a shipping company for your store in Saudi Arabia.
  4. Activate a second, backup shipping company: a second account tested with at least one real order, which you can move part of your orders to if the first company falls behind.
  5. State delivery times honestly on the product and checkout pages: "3–5 working days during the White Friday season" is better than "one day" followed by an apology. Remember that the E-Commerce Law gives consumers the right to cancel the contract if delivery is delayed more than 15 days from the contract or past the agreed date.
  6. Prepare packaging and fulfillment in advance: boxes in your most-used sizes, labels, a dedicated packing area and extra temporary staff if needed. Calculate the time to prepare one order and multiply it by the expected daily orders to know how many hands you need.
  7. Prepare customer service for frequent questions: ready WhatsApp replies for "Where is my order?", "When does the offer end?" and "How do I return a product?", with a shipment tracking link in the confirmation message. This eases the pressure on your team more than any other tool.

The Ministry of Commerce discount license and 6 regulatory items that cannot wait

This is the track most new stores overlook, and it is the only one that can cost you a fine rather than just lost sales. Discounting in Saudi Arabia is a regulated activity that requires a license from the Ministry of Commerce, issued electronically through the Ministry of Commerce discounts system, and it covers both shops and online stores.

  1. Obtain the discount license before announcing any discount: you must have a Commercial Registration (or an agency or trademark) registered with the Ministry, and attach a list of the discounted products with their prices before and after the discount. For a partial discount, the discounted products must be no less than 50% of the goods on offer. The fee published on the Ministry of Commerce service page is SAR 300 per shop, and the license is issued electronically and instantly after payment.
  2. Choose the right license type: full (all products), partial, or seasonal during the seasons set by the Ministry. Stores commonly treat White Friday as a seasonal discount, but check when applying: has the Ministry announced a season that is not deducted from your annual allowance, as it did for the "Discounts 2026" season (from 1 August to 31 October), or will the days be deducted from your allowance?
  3. Calculate your annual allowance of discount days: Saudi platform guides commonly state a limit of 3 licenses per year totaling 90 days, with full and partial discounts not exceeding 45 days per license. Check your actual balance in the system before planning, and do not use it up on small offers before the season.
  4. Show the before and after prices honestly: the "before" price must be the price you actually sold at before the offer, not a price raised a few days earlier to make the discount look bigger. Display both prices and the discount percentage clearly on every product included, and do not change the price list submitted to the Ministry after licensing without its approval.
  5. Display the license in the store and in ads: the license carries a code that consumers scan with their phone camera to check the discount type, percentage, duration and store details. Place it on the offers page and in the store footer for the whole duration of the offer, and mention its number in your ad campaigns.
  6. Comply with disclosure and invoicing rules: show the final price including 15% VAT and shipping fees before the order is completed, and a clear returns policy that respects the consumer's right to cancel the contract within 7 days of receipt if the product has not been used (with the exceptions set out in the law). And make sure every order generates an e-invoice that complies with the requirements of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), with the discount shown correctly on it.

The discount license in one table

Item What we know (as of 2026) Practical note
Authority and where to apply Ministry of Commerce, through the online discounts system Log in with the business account as the system requires, then pay and print
Fees SAR 300 per shop (government fee) If you have more than one branch or store, check how it is calculated in the system
Main condition A Commercial Registration, agency or trademark registered with the Ministry Make sure the registration is valid and that e-commerce activity is added to it
Documents List of products and their prices before and after the discount Prepare it in a single Excel file straight from your system
Partial discount No less than 50% of the products on offer If your offer covers only a few products, ask about "promotional offers" instead of a discount
Duration and allowance Commonly stated: 3 licenses and 90 days a year, with a limit of 45 days for full and partial discounts Check your balance in the system; exceptional seasons may not be deducted from it
Issuance Instant after payment Do not leave it to the night of the offer; obtain it before the pre-announcement
Penalty for violations The E-Commerce Law allows a warning, a fine of up to SAR one million, and suspension of the business or blocking of the store In addition to penalties under the discounts and anti-commercial fraud regulations

Note: the requirements are updated from time to time. Always rely on what appears in the discounts system at the time of applying; the above is a summary of what is published and commonly stated as of October 2026.

The timeline: 4 weeks to get your store ready for White Friday

This is the part that brings the thirty items together in one plan. We split the weeks so that items depending on outside parties start first, and added a preparation phase for those starting in October:

Week Technical Digital Inventory and shipping Regulatory
Preparation (4 – 25 October) Audit plugins and apps, and request hosting upgrade quotes in writing Publish the seasonal landing page early so it gets indexed, and start collecting the interest list Contact suppliers of products with long lead times Make sure e-commerce activity is added to the Commercial Registration
Week one (26 October – 1 November) Measure speed, and approve the hosting upgrade Calculate margins and choose products, and update the landing page with the sign-up form Forecast quantities and order stock Review the Commercial Registration and your balance of discount days
Week two (2 – 8 November) Fix images and plugins, and set up caching Design creative content, and set up retargeting audiences Agree with the main and backup shipping companies Prepare the price list before and after the discount
Week three (9 – 15 November) Load test, and test payments with real orders Launch search campaigns with a warm-up budget, and pre-announce to your list Prepare packaging and temporary staff Obtain the discount license before the pre-announcement
Week four (16 – 22 November) Freeze changes, take a backup and turn on monitoring Offer launch messages, and raise the budget gradually Sync inventory and prepare customer service replies Display the license and the two-price labels in the store
Peak week (23 – 30 November) Monitor speed and payments every hour on peak days Send a reminder before the end, and stop losing ads daily Track the daily pickup cut-off and delays Stop the discount exactly on the license end date

If your store sells products with long lead times (furniture, imported devices), move the inventory item to the first day of the plan rather than waiting for the whole first week.

How much does it cost to prepare a store for White Friday in Saudi Arabia?

Costs vary widely depending on the type and size of the store. The following figures are approximate market ranges as of 2026 for a small to mid-sized store, excluding 15% VAT unless stated otherwise, and they vary by provider and the condition of the store:

Item Approximate cost in SAR When do you need it?
Ministry of Commerce discount license 300 (government fee per shop) Always, for any discount
Speed audit and fixes 1,500 – 6,000 If mobile pages are slow or the theme is overloaded with plugins
Load test with a report 1,500 – 5,000 For self-hosted stores (WooCommerce or custom-built)
Temporary hosting upgrade for the season 150 – 1,500 per month If the test shows the current plan cannot cope
Designed seasonal landing page 2,000 – 7,000 One-time, and reused every year at the same URL
Managing ad campaigns for the season 2,500 – 8,000 in fees If you do not have a team to manage campaigns daily
The ad budget itself Set by your sales target, cost per click and conversion rate Calculate it from the target, not from what is available: (sales target ÷ average order ÷ conversion rate) × cost per click
WhatsApp marketing messages Per message according to Meta's published pricing + platform subscription When sending to an opted-in list through the WhatsApp API

The rule we recommend: spending on speed, payments and tracking comes before raising the ad budget. Every advertising riyal sent to a slow store or broken tracking is wasted twice: once on the click, and once on the wrong decision you make based on incomplete data.

Common mistakes that ruin the season for Saudi stores

Announcing the discount before the license is issued

An Instagram post saying "Discounts up to 70% start next week" counts as announcing a discount. If the license has not been issued, you are exposing your store to liability. Obtain the license first, then start the pre-announcement.

Inflating the price before the discount

Raising the price before the season and then "lowering" it is a regulatory violation, and a marketing mistake too: Saudi customers compare prices, price-tracking tools are widespread, and it can even lead to a complaint.

Changing the theme or adding a new app during peak week

Every change during the season's week is a risk with no time to fix it. Most store outages in the seasons are caused by a change made "in a hurry", not by visitor pressure itself.

Relying on a single shipping company with no prior agreement

Shipping companies receive several times their usual orders during the season. A store that has not agreed on capacity and pickup times in advance finds its orders at the back of the queue.

Measuring success by the number of orders, not by profit

A thousand orders with a negative margin after the discount, commission, shipping and returns are worse than three hundred profitable ones. Calculate the net profit of each offer at the end of every day, and stop losing offers and ads immediately. And if you want to raise conversions without an extra discount, read our guide to conversion rate optimization (CRO).

And if your store itself is the problem (an old theme, a complicated checkout, slow mobile pages), the next season is an opportunity to rebuild it after the peak, not during it. This is what we work on in Bateel's e-commerce store design service, alongside the digital marketing services that run seasonal campaigns and measure their profit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does an online store need a discount license from the Ministry of Commerce?

Yes. Discounting in Saudi Arabia requires a license from the Ministry of Commerce for shops and online stores alike, issued electronically through the discounts system. It requires a Commercial Registration or registered trademark and a list of products with their prices before and after the discount, and its published fee is SAR 300 per shop. The license must be shown to consumers for the whole duration of the offer.

When is White Friday 2026 in Saudi Arabia?

White Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, the last Friday of the month. But many stores start their offers a week or more before and extend them to the end of November, so plan for a peak running roughly from 20 to 30 November, and start preparing at least four weeks before the date.

How long is a discount license valid in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi platform guides commonly state that a merchant can issue 3 licenses a year totaling 90 days, with full or partial discounts not exceeding 45 days per license. The Ministry may announce exceptional seasons that are not deducted from the annual allowance. Check your actual balance in the discounts system before planning.

When should I start White Friday ads?

Start search campaigns and audience building about two weeks before the season with a warm-up budget, then raise it gradually as the offers begin. Starting early gives you data on the winning ads and an audience ready for retargeting before cost per click rises in peak week. And do not announce the discount before the license is issued.

How do I know my store will handle the White Friday pressure?

With a load test that simulates three to five times your store's busiest day, measuring response times on the product, cart and checkout pages. This applies to self-hosted stores; for Salla and Zid stores the infrastructure is the platform's responsibility, and it is enough to test the purchase flow with real orders and lighten images and apps.
